The symbol of the bird- Morgan Cudd

The Bird

The bird is a symbol in George Orwell's 1984. The bird represents freedom and is present when Winston and Julia defy the laws of their government and sneak off into the forest where they express their forbidden love affair. The bird sings as they engage in intimacy and further enhances the symbol of freedom.
